Premium Quality. Kansas Made. Kinfolk Created.
Kinfolk was born with a proud creative lineage. Cousins Bryan and Toby spent years in their father’s design firms learning at a young age the importance of hard work and collaboration. That history inspired them to pursue a career in visual communication. Their midwest work ethic and personal attention to every relationship is a family tradition. And in this family, design runs deep.
Our brand offers premium quality Kansas apparel and small goods rooted in local history. Our designs tell a story about growing up with grass stains on gravel roads in the Kansas side of Kansas City. We represent a generation without cable TV, mobile phones, or the internet. In fact we played outside from dawn-to-dusk and sometimes later depending on just how far from home we actually “explored.”
Our mission is to capture this youthful past and to recreate it for the next generation. Being present, being accountable, and being kind are our beliefs and we know it does not cost anything more to be nice. So we smile, we make eye contact, and we prefer a face-to-face conversation. This perspective is always welcome at our table.
Bryan Lisbona, AIGA
Bryan is a graphic designer born and raised in rural Kansas. His award-winning studio, Kinfolk Creative represents businesses and brands large-and-small from coast-to-no-coast throughout the USA. His work ranges from traditional 2D and 3D design to more unconventional environmental projects of human scale. And in 2017 he started Kinfolk Created, a midwest apparel line featuring baselayer tees and a range of unique small goods all rooted in Kansas history. Bryan credits his inspiration and endless determination to his family’s free range parenting approach and thick creative lineage.
Bryan devotes both personal and professional time to numerous passion projects supporting initiatives he believes in. Professionally he has supported organizations such as The LIKEME® Lighthouse, The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, ArtsKC, Burundi Friends International, Kiwanis International, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, The Kansas City VA Medical Center, Saint Luke’s Midwest Ear Institute and Montana On A Mission. Personally, and more importantly Bryan mentors in local public school systems and with AIGA, the professional association for design, for which he is a long-standing member.

As part of Kinfolk Toby brings fifteen plus years of experience as part of the Creative Team at Kuhn & Wittenborn Advertising in Kansas City, Missouri. While there he climbed his way up the ranks from Intern to Senior Graphic Designer and honed his professional design skills of turning big ideas into well executed work. His diverse experience crosses over all areas of 2D and 3D print design including outdoor, direct mail and collateral. He is also skilled in interactive and digital design including websites, emails, social media, and online advertising. A few of the clients he has directly supported include Assurant Employee Benefits, Crown Center, GEHA, Kansas Speedway, Kansas City Aviation Department, KC Chamber, KCP&L and Liberty Hospital.
When Toby isn’t busy practicing the Art of Design, he can often be found practicing the Art of Zen, whether though yoga and meditation or taking a relaxing break in his own personal float tank. He enjoys spending family time with his wife and two kids along with their four cats. As a fellow graduate from the University of Kansas, he is a big fan of KU basketball. He also enjoys bicycle rides in the summer, snowboarding in the winter and hitting the gym year round. Other hobbies include listening to Podcasts and trying out new craft beers with old friends.
